Brief Description
In 2001, the National Office for Women's Affairs (SERNAM) launched the Manual for Application of the Family Violence Act, targeted specifically at judges and justice officials. It has also provided training for many public officials, primarily in education, health, the judiciary, and the municipalities and police forces (in particular the Carabineros) for dealing with family violence, principally through primary and secondary prevention efforts. From 1991 to 1999, some 24,000 public officials received training.
